Muir sets British indoor 1500m record in Lievin, Reekie wins the 800m

It was a very successful day at the World Athletics Indoor Tour Gold series in Lievin.

The british runner Laura Muir opened her season with a strong performance. With a time of 3:59.58 minutes she sets a new national indoor record, in a race where the Ethiopian Guduf Tsegay breaks the indoor world record. The European 1500m champion finished second behind Guduf Tsegay. In fifth place the German runner Hanna Klein also completed a strong race, she ran a new indoor personal best of 4:06. 86 minutes and the European championships indoor standard.

Laura’s housemate and friend Jemma Reekie also confirmed her good form in her first race for five months. She crossed the finish line as first and took the win in 2:00.65 ahead of Ethiopian Habitam Alemu.
