Muir dominates her Season Opener in Eugene

It was a very successful day at the USATF Grand Prix in Eugene last weekend.

Laura Muir won the women’s 1500m in 4:01.54, finishing more than two seconds clear of the second-placed. Right at the start of the season she showed her strong form in the Olympic year. Muir said: “I’ve never done a race gun to tape by myself. I know I’m in really good shape so I’m pleased”. Gabriela Stafford finished the race as 6th.

Her training partner Jemma Reekie opened her season with a 800meter race in 2:03.25 . She finished second, behind Adelle Tracey by one hundredth of a second. The british middle-distance runner Amy-Eloise Markovc was third over the 5000m in a solid race. 

It was also a very successful day for the 3000m steeplechase runner Maison Ferlic, he crossed the finish line as second and he is automatically qualified for the Olympic Games in Tokyo 2021.
