Jodie Williams wins 200m silver medal at Europeans

Jodie Williams has the style, she has the speed and now, after a longer wait than she would ideally have liked, she has the silverware.
With a brilliantly controlled performance here in her 200 metres final on Friday night, producing a lifetime best of 22.46 sec, Britain’s glamorous sprinting starlet grasped a second major silver medal in the space of three weeks. Perhaps the many breathless predictions attracted by Williams, who turns 21 next month and boasts a 151-race winning streak from her junior days, were not so premature after all.
She was over 0.4 sec adrift of Holland’s Dafne Schippers, but Williams, still giddy with pride at her silver at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, affected not to care one iota. “To come away with two silver medals, I couldn’t ask for any more,” she said.
“I’m so happy. I was trying to chase Dafne down, but her time was crazy. I thought perhaps that I could get a little more out of tonight, but I’m so tired after the Commonwealths.”
