Ahmed and Nettey win Gold at Pan Am Games

Canadian long jumper Christabel Nettey continued her streak of strong performances by winning gold at the Toronto 2015 Pan American Games on Friday night.

Nettey’s fifth attempt of 6.90 metres stood cheap propecia 1mg as the winner in Toronto but in reality, she had four attempts that were farther than the next best competitor, silver medallist Bianca Stuart of Bahamas (6.69m).

“I think in Beijing I could break it,” Nettey said of crossing the coveted seven-metre mark in women’s long jump. At the very least, she plans to leave China wearing a World Championships medal. “I have a lot of confidence and I’m confident on making it to the podium.”

Mohammed Ahmed used a strong final lap to win the 10,000 meters for Canada at the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto on Tuesday night. Running in front of a home crowd, Ahmed finished in 28:49.96min.

“It was very tough, as I expected,” Ahmed said. “To come out on top in front of the home crowd is unbelievable.”

Ahmed, Rono and Juan Luis Barrios of Mexico broke away from the pack with 300 meters to go as Rono grabbed the lead. With just under 200 meters to go, Ahmed passed Rono on the outside and sprinted to the finish.

““It was my first time experiencing something like this, being on the podium,” Ahmed said. “Now that I have experienced the feeling of being on the podium, I hope to keep experiencing it.”

Two more athletes were able to bring home a medal; Lanni Marchant (Canada) who won Bronze in the women’s 10,000m race, as well as Cory Leslie (USA) in the men’s 3k Steeple.

Also competing well; Garrett Heath (USA) finishing 4th in the men’s 5,000m and Jeshua Anderson (USA) placing 5th with a new SB of 48.95sec in the men’s 400mHurdles.

The Pan American Games are the world’s third-largest international multi-sport games, as only the Summer Olympics and the Asian Games are larger. The Pan Am Games, which feature athletes from 41 different countries, take place every four years the summer prior to the Summer Olympics.
